Fire Inspection

The purpose of the Walterboro Fire Marshal is to provide services aimed at reducing the risk of fire and injuries to the public. These services are provided through the administration of inspections, programs and education to the community while maintaining a commitment to excellence in an atmosphere of courtesy and integrity..

 The Fire Marshal is responsible for inspecting over 500 commercial facilities and new construction in the City of Walterboro. Our Fire Inspector is certified through the South Carolina Fire Marshal's office as Resident State Fire Marshals. He performs routine inspections, re-inspections, complaints, and City Business License Inspections. The City adopted the 2015 International Fire Code and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 Life Safety Code. City of Walterboro Fire Inspector reviews and signs all applications before a license is issued. City Business License Inspections will be done within 72 hours of applying for a business license.
