Line Service Technician - Walterboro/Colleton Airport
LINE SERVICE TECHNICIAN
The Walterboro-Colleton County Airport Commission is accepting applications for the position of Line Service Technician at Lowcountry Regional Airport. Under direct supervision, the LST performs aviation-related services primarily outside, including aircraft fueling, aircraft marshaling, operation of motorized/non-motorized fueling vehicles and equipment, baggage/luggage handling, basic customer service duties, and related work as required. Receives direct supervision from the Airport Operations Manager. If improperly handled, LST will work with fuels and chemicals that may pose a serious health and/or safety hazard. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Requires a high school diploma with a minimum of one year experience working in airport operations; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Employee should have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and ability with airport operations, including fueling operations, aircraft movement on runways and taxiways, airport markings and signage, aviation communications, and aircraft marshaling, among others. Possession of a valid South Carolina Driver’s License and a safe driving record is required.
Ability to safely and effectively operate moderately heavy maintenance/fueling vehicles and equipment is required. The candidate must be able to perform manual labor involving frequent bending, pulling, pushing, lifting, climbing, and carrying weights up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work rotating shifts, extended periods, or beyond normal schedule in the event of operational or safety requirements, work weekends, be on stand-by as needed, work holidays and nights, if required, and work primarily outside and during inclement weather. Must meet other requirements outlined in the job description. Pre-employment drug screen and a satisfactory background check are required.
