What I Love About Walterboro
By: Robert D. Langdale III

What qualities must a town have to make it the ideal place to reside? Such an ideal place would surely be a small, quaint college town. The town would have a strong sense of community and boast a plethora of opportunities for community events and involvement (community service). The town would be a hospitable place where there are no strangers and a smiling face, a friendly wave, and a sweet "hello" can be seen and heard around every corner. The town would be a place that is rich in history. It would be a serene place that is also rich in nature and scenery. It would be a place where you can find rivers, woods, swamps, wildlife, and fresh air. In this town there would be endless opportunities to learn and grow as a person—a place where the sky is the limit. A place where the mantra is "The front porch of the low country!" Does such an ideal and perfect sounding place even exist you ask, or can such a place only be found in movies? Of course such a place exists! That place is Walterboro, South Carolina, and it is our little piece of paradise! I could not imagine a better place to live, grow, and rear a family. If you think that sounds like the the ideal place to reside; you would be accurate.
