Notice of Intention to Adopt Building Codes
Notice is hereby given that the South Carolina Building Codes Council intends to adopt the following building codes for use in the State of South Carolina.
Mandatory codes include the:
2018 Edition of the South Carolina Building Code*;
2018 Edition of the South Carolina Residential Code*;
2018 Edition of the South Carolina Fire Code*;
2018 Edition of the South Carolina Plumbing Code*;
2018 Edition of the South Carolina Mechanical Code*;
2018 Edition of the South Carolina Fuel Gas Code*;
2017 Edition of the National Electrical Code.
*The International edition with South Carolina modifications.
Permissive codes include the:
2018 Edition of the International Property Maintenance Code;
2018 Edition of the Swimming Pool and Spa Code;
2018 Edition of the International Existing Building Code;
2018 Edition of the International Performance Code for Buildings and Facilities.

Section 6-9-40 (1) of the South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976 as Amended, requires this noticed to be prominently displayed in the public area of the Building Inspection Department.
