Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for Portions of the SC Lowcountry Tonight
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 11 PM this evening to 9 AM Friday for inland Colleton, Dorchester, Berkeley, and Charleston Counties. FREEZING RAIN: The Charleston Tri-County area and Colleton County is forecast to see a 3-6 hour period of light freezing rain/drizzle tonight into early Friday. A trace to a few hundredths of an inch ice accumulation is expected by sunrise Friday, resulting in a light glaze of ice. Travel conditions may become hazardous late tonight through Friday morning, especially on untreated bridges and overpasses. Light rain will develop across the region by this evening. Subfreezing temperatures are expected to advance southward across the northern forecast area late tonight, resulting in the precipitation to freeze on contact. Any ice accumulation should melt by mid Friday morning.
