The City of Walterboro, The Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce Leadership Colleton Class of 2016, and the Friends of the Great Swamp Sanctuary invite you to a media event February 26, 2018 to celebrate some new additions at 399 Detreville Street, the Walterboro Wildlife Sanctuary, starting at 11am.
Leadership Colleton will be dedicating an oversized red rocking chair built by the Thunderbolt Career & Techonology Center Construction Technology Class.
The Colleton County Rice Festival in Walterboro, South Carolina is an annual event featuring arts and crafts, food, fireworks, music and other entertainment.
Since it first arrived in 1685, rice helped create enormous wealth for the Lowcountry, and Colleton County was perfect for growing it. During the annual Rice Festival we celebrate the heritage of rice in this community and the beauty of the people and land that continue to bless this great country.
Don't miss the 16th Annual Walterboro Criterium on East Washington and Hampton Streets in Historic Downtown Walterboro. Come see professional and olympic level bicyclists as they race our city streets at speeds up to 35 miles per hour and compete for $10,000 in cash prizes. Ameteur races start at 4 pm. Kids race at 6 pm ages 3-10 (helmet required), with free registration starting at 5 pm at Waterfall Plaza. Free admission.
Come watch the action from our VIP Section and enjoy local cuisine, beer and wine and and live music — Tickets $25 at the door.
Join us in celebrating the 25th anniversary of the South Carolina Artisans Center at our Black Tie Masquerade Ball! The ball will be held at historic Bedon-Lucas house. There will be live music, dancing, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and complimentary wine and beer. There will also be a cash only full bar. Tickets are $30.00 per person for a night of dancing, music and fun! Proceeds to this event will benefit the South Carolina Artisans Center.
January 15 through January 19 will be Garnet and Gold Week at USC Salkehatchie and in its communities. Show your Salkehatchie Spirit by wearing garnet and gold. Our prize crew will award prizes to those spotted. Merchants are encouraged to create displays. Prizes will be awareded to the best displays.
The February 6, 2018 regular City Council Meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 6:15 P.M. at City Hall, 242 Hampton Street, Walterboro.

Paws at the Plantation is a fundraiser for the animals of Colleton County.
Held at the privately owned Pineland Plantation in Green Pond, SC, this event will have live entertainment by Going to the Dogs Band, catering by Jimmy Fitt, beer and wine. An amazing silent auction and great raffle packages will be available.
Early bird tickets are $40 until February 23. Afterwards, tickets are $50, and no tickets will be available at the door.
The Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society is highlighting the some of the history of Colleton County with an Amazing History Race (similar to the Amazing Race on TV). This is a family-friendly, kid-friendly event. The race can be run by pairs and also by family. Prizes will be awarded.
